Taken up body and soul into the glory of heaven: that is the dogma Pius XII defined in 1950, and the mystery the Church keeps every August 15. The Assumption is the fourth Glorious Mystery of the Rosary, and its image shows Our Lady lifted heavenward at the close of her earthly life.
At thirty-two inches she stands in a side chapel, a school entrance, a garden grotto or a parish office, and parishes named for the Assumption often place this size in a hall or vestibule where a larger statue would not fit.
