Caridad Del Cobre 16"
This 16-inch Caridad del Cobre statue presents Our Lady of Charity of El Cobre, the beloved patroness of Cuba. Around 1612 three young men rowing in the Bay of Nipe found her small image floating on the waves, her garments still dry, and she was later enshrined at El Cobre near Santiago de Cuba. Pope Benedict XV named her patroness of the island in 1916, and her feast on September 8 is kept with deep devotion by Cuban families everywhere.
A cherished piece for a home altar or prayer corner, especially in Cuban-American households, and a meaningful gift for a new home, a wedding, a Baptism or a family member far from the island.
Made from a lightweight, durable resin-fiberglass blend and painted by hand.
