Christ Laying in Repose / The Dead Savior/Cristo Yacente 72"

This 72-inch Christ in Repose statue, known in Spanish as Cristo Yacente and also called the Dead Savior, shows Jesus lying in the tomb after He was taken down from the Cross. The image has deep roots in Christian art and in Holy Week devotion, especially Good Friday processions and vigils, and it invites the faithful to keep watch beside the Lord who laid down His life. It speaks of sacrifice and redemption, and of the hope of the Resurrection to come.

A full-length figure of this size belongs in a church side chapel, beneath an altar, or in a dedicated Holy Sepulchre shrine, and it can be the centerpiece of a parish Good Friday procession. It may also rest in an outdoor shrine on parish grounds or in a cemetery.

Measures 72" x 30".
