23" San Damiano Cross
This 23-inch San Damiano Cross is modeled on the painted icon cross that hung in the chapel of San Damiano outside Assisi, where around 1205 Christ spoke to the young Francis: "Francis, go and repair My house, which, as you see, is falling into ruin." The original icon shows Christ serene and victorious on the cross, surrounded by witnesses of the Passion, and now hangs in the Basilica of St. Clare. It has become the emblem of the whole Franciscan family.
It is well sized for a home prayer corner, a dorm room, or a Franciscan fraternity meeting space, and it makes a meaningful gift for Confirmation, a profession of vows, or a young adult discerning a vocation.
Made from a lightweight, durable resin-fiberglass blend and painted by hand.
