Custodian 1
This Custodian 1 monstrance is a sacred vessel for the solemn exposition of the Eucharist, holding the consecrated Host behind glass so the faithful may adore Christ truly present. The Spanish name custodia reflects its role of guarding the Blessed Sacrament. Monstrances have served Catholic worship since the Middle Ages, especially after Pope Urban IV extended the feast of Corpus Christi to the whole Church in 1264.
Use it on the altar for Exposition and Benediction, in a perpetual adoration chapel, or for the Corpus Christi procession; it is also a significant gift from a parish to a newly ordained priest.
