Detente (Sacred Heart Medallion-Shield)
The Detente, a small Sacred Heart medallion-shield, carries a devotion that originated in France and grew from the revelations of the Sacred Heart to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque at Paray-le-Monial. Detente is Spanish for 'Stop!', a plea that evil halt before the Heart of Jesus. Tradition holds that the people of Marseille wore it during the plague of 1720, and it has been carried ever since as a sign of trust in Christ's protection.
Small enough to carry every day, it belongs in a wallet or purse, at the workplace, or in the home, and it makes a simple gift for a Confirmation, a new job, a traveler, or anyone who needs courage.
A small shield bearing the image of the Sacred Heart, meant to be carried with you always: in your wallet, in your purse, at your workplace, and in your home. Sacred Heart of Jesus, I trust in You! +++
