Embrace of St. Francis 39"

This 39-inch Embrace of St. Francis statue takes up the image, familiar from Murillo's painting, of Francis of Assisi embracing the crucified Christ. It expresses the heart of Franciscan spirituality: a love for Christ Crucified so complete that Francis received the stigmata on Mount La Verna in 1224. His feast is October 4, and he is patron of Italy, of animals, and of care for creation, invoked by all who seek peace and a change of heart.

Its 39-inch height suits a side altar, a Franciscan chapel, or a retreat house, and it makes a moving focal point for a garden grotto or a quiet corner of parish or friary grounds.
