Embrace of St. Francis 55"

Francis of Assisi clinging to his crucified Lord is the subject of this 55-inch Embrace of St. Francis statue, an image that captures the saint's prayer, "My God and my all." It draws on the tradition, famously painted by Murillo, of Francis embracing Christ on the cross, a picture of the poverty and self-giving love that led him to rebuild the Church. The Poverello, whose feast falls on October 4, is invoked for peace, repentance, and love of the poor.

At 55 inches, it can stand in a church sanctuary or narthex, at the entrance to a Franciscan parish, or outdoors on parish grounds, along a retreat center path, or in a cemetery, where its message of love to the end speaks to every visitor.
