Going to the Inn

This Going to the Inn statue captures Joseph and Mary on the road to Bethlehem, seeking shelter as the time drew near for her to give birth. St. Luke tells us they had traveled from Nazareth to be enrolled in the census and found no room for them in the inn. Hispanic communities reenact this search each December in Las Posadas, nine nights of processions, songs, and hospitality leading up to Christmas, reminding all to make room for Christ.

It makes a meaningful Advent display in a church entrance, sanctuary, or parish hall, and it is well suited to a parish lawn, a courtyard, or school grounds during Las Posadas.
