Our Lady of Mercy 49" Fancy
This 49-inch Our Lady of Mercy statue honors Mary as the Mother who embodies divine compassion and grace, a title Catholics especially associate with Nuestra Señora de la Merced, Our Lady of Ransom. Tradition holds that in 1218 she inspired St. Peter Nolasco to found the Mercedarian Order to ransom Christians held captive, its members vowing to offer themselves in exchange if needed. Her feast is September 24, and the faithful ask her to free them from every captivity of body and soul.
At this scale she belongs in a sanctuary, a church narthex, or a Marian side chapel, and she is a fitting patroness for a Mercedarian community, a prison ministry office, or a parish named in her honor.
Made from a lightweight, durable resin-fiberglass blend and painted by hand. +++
