Lady of the Smile 66"

This 66-inch Our Lady of the Smile statue honors the image of Mary that smiled on young Therese Martin, the future St. Therese of Lisieux, in 1883. Gravely ill at ten years old, Therese turned toward the statue of the Virgin in her room as her sisters prayed, saw Our Lady smile at her, and was healed that day, Pentecost Sunday. The Virgin of the Smile stayed dear to her all her life and now stands above her tomb in Lisieux, a sign of a Mother's tenderness toward suffering children.

At 66 inches it has the stature for a sanctuary, a church entrance, a children's hospital chapel or an outdoor shrine on parish grounds, in a cemetery or in a school courtyard, especially where families pray for sick children.
