Carmel is a mountain before it is an order. Elijah called down fire there, and the hermits who settled its slopes in the twelfth century built a chapel to the Lady of the place. Our Lady of Mount Carmel is their Virgin, the giver of the brown scapular, and July 16 is her feast, kept with processions in Italian, Spanish and Latin American parishes everywhere.
Twenty-seven inches is a garden, grotto and side-chapel size, and the size a parish chooses for its July 16 procession or a school for a Carmelite classroom. Lay Carmelites keep it in a prayer room.
Made of a lightweight, durable resin-fiberglass blend and hand-painted by artisans, each statue finished individually. Available in Standard full-color, Fancy full-color with gold detail (indoor), or Monotone finish, sealed for interior or exterior placement.
