In 1956, in Ohio, Sister Mary Ephrem — Mildred Neuzil — reported requests from Our Lady under the title Our Lady of America, asking for purity of heart in families and in the nation, and for her image to be honoured in homes. The devotion has carried a favourable judgement from her local bishop.
It remains a household devotion above all, and this fourteen-inch size reflects that: a home altar, a family prayer corner, a bedroom, a parish devotional shelf. It is often bought together with the small statue of Sister Mary Ephrem herself.
