Four feet of Our Lady of Perpetual Help: the Mother of God in the dark mantle of the icon, the Child in her arms, his sandal slipping from his foot as he turns to see the archangels bearing the instruments of the Passion. The image came to Rome from Crete, and Pius IX gave it to the Redemptorists with the charge to make her known. Her feast is June 27.
Forty-eight inches is a side-chapel, garden or church-entrance statue. Parishes with a Wednesday novena set it in a shrine niche; schools and hospitals place it in a lobby or courtyard.
