Pope John XXIII
This Pope St. John XXIII statue honors Angelo Giuseppe Roncalli, the son of a farming family near Bergamo who was elected pope in 1958 and was affectionately called 'Good Pope John.' Within months of his election he announced the Second Vatican Council, which he opened in 1962 praying for a new Pentecost. His encyclicals Mater et Magistra and Pacem in Terris spoke to justice and peace; Pope Francis canonized him in 2014, and his feast is October 11.
Suited to a parish hall, a rectory, a Catholic school, or a home prayer space, it is a thoughtful gift for a priest, a seminarian, or a parish marking an anniversary of the Council.
Made from a lightweight, durable resin-fiberglass blend and painted by hand.
