Our Lady of Sorrows 48" relief (Calvary)

Our Lady of Sorrows stands at Calvary in this 48-inch relief, which recalls the Mother of Jesus keeping watch beneath the Cross of her Son. Simeon had foretold that a sword would pierce her heart, and the Church meditates on her Seven Sorrows, from that prophecy in the Temple to the burial of Jesus. Her memorial falls on September 15, the day after the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, and the hymn Stabat Mater gives voice to her grief.

At 48 inches the relief suits a chapel, a side altar, or a Lenten devotion space, and it brings quiet dignity to a parish grotto, a memorial garden, or a Way of the Cross path on church grounds.
