St. Anthony Brief
The St. Anthony Brief is a traditional Catholic devotional bearing prayers and an image of St. Anthony of Padua, the Franciscan preacher and Doctor of the Church honored on June 13. Its name recalls the short written prayer, beginning "Behold the Cross of the Lord," that Anthony is said to have given a woman in deep distress. The faithful wear or carry the brief as protection against temptation, especially against sins of impurity, and to invoke his powerful intercession.
Keep it in a wallet, purse or pocket, or wear it close to the heart, as a daily reminder of one's commitment to virtue. It is a fitting gift for Confirmation or for anyone seeking purity and holy resolve. +
