St. Dominick 16"
This 16-inch St. Dominick statue depicts St. Dominic, founder of the Dominican Order, the Order of Preachers, which received papal approval in 1216 to answer error with sound teaching and holy lives. Born in Caleruega, Spain, around 1170, Dominic joined serious study with poverty and constant prayer, and Dominican tradition has long linked him to the spread of the Rosary. His feast is August 8, and preachers, students and teachers look to him as a model of commitment to preaching, education and piety.
Sized for a home altar, a bookshelf or a prayer corner, it keeps Dominic's example close at hand. It is a thoughtful gift for a Confirmation, a graduating student, a lay Dominican or someone newly entering religious life.
Made from a lightweight, durable resin-fiberglass blend and painted by hand. +++
