St. Francis 16" with deer
This 16-inch St. Francis with deer statue portrays the poor man of Assisi alongside one of the creatures he called his brothers and sisters. Francis (c. 1181–1226) renounced his inheritance to embrace Lady Poverty, founded the Friars Minor, and received the stigmata on Mount La Verna two years before his death. His Canticle of the Creatures praises God through sun, wind, water and fire. He is patron of animals and ecology, honored on October 4.
Sized for a home altar, a bookshelf or a sunroom windowsill, it is a lovely gift for animal lovers, veterinarians and Secular Franciscans, and a gentle reminder of the October blessing of the animals.
Made from a lightweight, durable resin-fiberglass blend and painted by hand. +++
