St. Francis 79" with wolf

This 79-inch St. Francis with Wolf statue recalls the beloved story from the Little Flowers of St. Francis, in which the saint went out to meet the fierce wolf terrorizing the town of Gubbio. Making the Sign of the Cross, Francis called it 'Brother Wolf,' gently reproved it and brokered a peace: the townspeople would feed the wolf, and it would harm no one again. The story shows the peace of Christ reaching all creation. His feast is October 4, and he is patron of animals and ecology.

At this scale the statue belongs on the parish grounds, at a church entrance, in a school courtyard or at the heart of a cemetery, and it anchors an October Blessing of the Animals.
