St. John Baptist 40"

Here is the voice crying in the wilderness: this 40-inch St. John the Baptist statue presents the forerunner who prepared the way of the Lord. Son of Zechariah and Elizabeth, John leapt in his mother's womb at Mary's greeting, preached repentance by the Jordan and baptized Jesus there, pointing Him out as the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. Beheaded by Herod for defending marriage, he is honored on June 24 for his birth and on August 29 for his martyrdom.

At 40 inches it is well placed beside a baptismal font or in a baptistery, a chapel or a side altar, and it can stand in an outdoor grotto or garden at a parish named for him.
