St. Lawrence 48"
This 48-inch St. Lawrence statue honors the deacon of Rome who cared for the Church's goods and the poor under Pope St. Sixtus II and was martyred in 258 during the persecution of Valerian. Ordered to hand over the treasures of the Church, he presented the poor and the sick, saying, "Here are the treasures of the Church." Tradition holds he was roasted on a gridiron, his emblem in art. His feast is August 10; he is patron of deacons, cooks, and the poor.
At 48 inches, the statue suits a side altar, a chapel, or a diaconate formation center, and it can stand in a courtyard, a food pantry garden, or a grotto at a parish named in his honor.
