St. Mercedes de Jesus Molina 71"

This 71-inch St. Mercedes de Jesus Molina statue honors a nineteenth-century foundress who gave her life to the care and education of orphans and poor girls. Born in 1828, Mercedes de Jesús Molina y Ayala left a comfortable life to serve Christ in the poor, and in 1873 she founded the congregation of sisters known as the Marianitas, named for St. Mariana of Jesus. She died in 1883, was beatified by Pope St. John Paul II in 1985, and her sisters carry on her work in schools and missions.

At 71 inches it is scaled for a sanctuary, a church entrance or a school courtyard, and it is fitting for schools and parishes where the Marianitas serve or for parish grounds honoring her memory.
