St. Rita 75"

Invoked as the saint of impossible causes, the Augustinian nun of Cascia is portrayed in this 75-inch St. Rita statue. Born in Umbria around 1381, Rita endured a hard marriage, won her husband's conversion, and after his murder and her sons' deaths entered the Augustinian convent at Cascia. She bore on her forehead a wound from a thorn of Christ's crown for some fifteen years. Her feast is May 22, and wives, mothers, widows and anyone facing a hopeless situation turn to her.

At 75 inches it holds its own in a sanctuary, a church entrance or a shrine church, or outdoors on parish grounds, in a cemetery or in a school courtyard, where her story of perseverance speaks to all who pass.
