Tabernacle 16
Tabernacle 16 is a church tabernacle, the locked receptacle in which the Most Holy Eucharist is reserved after Mass. The Church asks that a tabernacle be solid, immovable and placed in a prominent, worthy part of the church, so the faithful can pray before the Real Presence and Communion can be carried to the sick and dying. A sanctuary lamp burns nearby as a sign that Christ is present, and the genuflection made before it is the Church's ancient gesture of adoration.
Suited to a parish sanctuary, a Blessed Sacrament chapel, an adoration chapel, a convent or seminary, or a hospital or school chapel where the Eucharist is reserved. Pastors and building committees furnishing a new or renovated chapel often begin here.
