Virgin of Merced 10"
This 10-inch Virgin of Merced statue honors Our Lady of Mercy, who, according to tradition, appeared in 1218 to St. Peter Nolasco and asked him to found an order to ransom Christians held captive. The Mercedarians took a fourth vow to offer themselves in exchange for prisoners in danger of losing their faith. La Merced is honored on September 24 and invoked for prisoners, captives and all who long for deliverance.
Its compact size suits a home altar, a bedside shelf or a prison ministry office, and it is a heartfelt gift for someone named Mercedes or for families who keep the feast of La Merced.
Made from a lightweight, durable resin-fiberglass blend and painted by hand.
