Virgin of Merced 60"

This 60-inch Virgin of Merced statue honors Our Lady of Mercy, Nuestra Señora de la Merced, the title under which Mary is invoked as the rescuer of captives. In 1218 St. Peter Nolasco founded the Mercedarian Order in Barcelona to ransom Christians held captive, and its friars vowed to offer themselves in exchange if needed. Her feast is September 24, and she is patroness of Barcelona and of all who are imprisoned or held in bondage.

At 60 inches she has the presence for a sanctuary, a church entrance, or a prison ministry chapel, and outdoors she can stand on parish grounds, in a school courtyard, or in a cemetery.
