Nativity & Christmas Statues

The Nativity scene goes back to Saint Francis of Assisi, who set up a living crèche at Greccio in 1223 so people could see the poverty of Bethlehem. Families, parishes and towns still build one each Advent and lay the Child in the manger on Christmas Eve.
