In Spanish homes the Nativity is the belén, named for Bethlehem, and the figure that completes it is the Child. This sixteen-inch Baby Belen is that figure, sized for a larger home or parish Nativity.
It rests in a manger at home, in a parish hall crèche or in a classroom, and it is carried to the crib on Christmas Eve. Sixteen inches is also a fine size for the blessing of the Bambinelli, when children bring their Christ Child to church to be blessed on Gaudete Sunday.
