Bernadette described her plainly: a girl in white with a blue sash, a yellow rose on each foot, a rosary over her arm, standing in the niche of the Massabielle rock. That is the statue here, at twelve inches. Between February and July 1858 she appeared eighteen times and finally gave her name, "I am the Immaculate Conception." The sick have gone to her spring ever since; her feast, February 11, is the World Day of the Sick.
