The medal was designed in heaven, or so St. Catherine Labouré was told. In 1830 Our Lady showed her both faces of it: on the front, the Virgin on the globe with rays from her hands and the prayer “O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee”; on the back, the M and the cross, the two Hearts and twelve stars. Struck in 1832, it was called miraculous within a decade.
This eight-inch medallion is the medal enlarged for a wall: a front door, a bedroom, a classroom or a nurse’s station. It is given at Baptism, First Communion and to anyone entering a hospital.
Available in gold or silver colors. The medallion is made from resin; it is not metal. Eight inches in diameter, hand-painted, each one finished individually.
