Pieta 18"

This 18-inch Pieta statue shows the Blessed Mother holding the lifeless body of her Son after He was taken down from the Cross. The composition, made famous by Michelangelo's Pieta in St. Peter's Basilica, gathers the Passion and Mary's sorrow into a single embrace. It fulfills Simeon's prophecy that a sword would pierce her soul, and Catholics meditate on it among the Seven Sorrows of Mary, honored on September 15. The grieving find in her a Mother who understands loss.

Its size fits a home altar, a mantel or a prayer corner, and it is a consoling gift in memory of a loved one; it can also rest in a memorial garden or beside a family gravesite.

Measures 18 inches tall from the base to the top of Mary's head. The figures are 24-inch scale size.
