Rosa Mystica 11"
Rosa Mystica is the Virgin as she was described at Montichiari, near Brescia in northern Italy, in 1947: dressed in white, with three roses on her breast. The white rose stands for prayer, the red for sacrifice and the gold for penance, and the devotion asks the faithful for exactly those three things, especially on behalf of priests and religious.
At eleven inches she is a bedside or dresser statue, small enough for a nightstand and right for a home altar in a modest room. Families who pray the Hour of Grace on December 8 often keep her where that midday prayer is said. She makes a fitting gift for a woman religious or a seminarian's mother.
Made of a lightweight, durable resin-fiberglass blend and hand-painted by artisans, each statue finished individually.
