This 30-inch Our Lady of Sorrows statue shows the Mother of God in grief, the Mater Dolorosa whose heart Simeon foretold would be pierced by a sword. Devotion to her Seven Sorrows, from Simeon's prophecy to the burial of Jesus, was spread especially by the Servite Order. The Church keeps her memorial on September 15, the day after the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, and the grieving find in her a mother who understands.
At 30 inches it fits a chapel, a side altar, a funeral home chapel, or a classroom. It is also appropriate for a sheltered grotto or a memorial garden.
