St. Francis 47"

This 47-inch St. Francis statue honors Francis of Assisi, the son of a cloth merchant who renounced his inheritance, embraced Lady Poverty, and founded the Friars Minor in 1209. He preached to the birds, tamed the wolf of Gubbio in the Little Flowers, arranged the first living nativity at Greccio in 1223, and bore the stigmata in 1224. His feast is October 4, when many parishes bless animals, and he is patron of animals, ecology, and Italy.

At 47 inches, the statue anchors a garden, a courtyard, or a parish animal-blessing site, and it serves equally well in a Franciscan chapel, at a side altar, or in a school classroom.
