St. Lawrence 12"
This 12-inch St. Lawrence statue honors the deacon of Rome who served the poor and died a martyr in 258 under Emperor Valerian. When ordered to hand over the treasures of the Church, he gathered the poor, the sick and the orphans and presented them as the Church's true treasure. Tradition holds that he was martyred on a gridiron, which became his emblem, and that he met death with good humor. His feast is August 10, and he is patron of deacons, cooks and the poor.
At 12 inches it fits a home altar, a bookshelf or a parish office, and it makes a meaningful gift for a newly ordained deacon, a deacon's anniversary, a chef or a food ministry volunteer.
Made from a lightweight, durable resin-fiberglass blend and painted by hand. ++++++
