St. Monica 20"

This 20-inch St. Monica statue honors the mother of St. Augustine, whose tears and years of prayer brought her son, and before him her husband Patricius, to faith in Christ. A bishop consoled her that "the son of so many tears" could not be lost, and she lived to see Augustine baptized by St. Ambrose in 387 before dying at Ostia. Her feast is August 27, the day before his, and she is patroness of mothers, wives, and all who pray for a wayward child.

It suits a home altar, a mother's prayer corner, or a parish moms' group room, and it makes a heartfelt Mother's Day or baptism gift; it can also rest in a small garden shrine.
